Python Basics & Projects

Build a working foundation in Python through an ordered sequence of language lessons and practical projects. Study variables, strings, collections, loops, functions, modules, classes and inheritance before moving to interactive programs, Tkinter applications and introductory Pygame projects. The course combines the previously selected foundation lessons with the additional project lessons. Written guides explain the learning sequence, practice tasks and project assessment. Prior programming experience is not required, but regular hands-on practice is expected. Video lessons are presented by Gaurav Kumar Jain. Practice tasks and written guides support independent learning.

Detailed Articles & Curriculum Topics

Comprehensive guides and modular reading materials provided for this course.

Topic 01

Course Prerequisites and Software Setup

Use a computer with a supported Python 3 installation, a code editor and a folder for practice files. The installation recording uses an older Python release, so install a currently supported release and check package compatibility when following project lessons. Begin with the console and IDLE or your preferred editor. Jupyter Notebook is useful for experiments, while scripts are better for complete applications. Start a virtual environment for projects that need extra packages. Keep a separate folder for each project and note the packages you installed. Run a small print statement and a calculation before proceeding to the collection and control-flow lessons.
Topic 02

Core Concepts and Learning Roadmap

A Python value has a type, and a variable is a name that refers to a value. Convert text input explicitly before arithmetic. Choose lists for ordered mutable collections, tuples for fixed groupings, sets for unique values and dictionaries for key-value lookups. Use conditions to select a branch and loops to process a sequence. A function should have a clear input, result and responsibility. Separate reusable functions into modules. Classes group related state and behavior, while inheritance extends existing behavior. For file-based projects, use a context manager such as with open(...) and handle expected errors with try and except. Learn these written foundation notes before moving from console projects to GUI events, database access and game loops.
Topic 03

Practice Plan and Final Project Guidelines

Create a small application that accepts user input, validates it, performs a useful calculation or lookup and displays a clear result. Extend it with either a desktop interface or a simple game interaction. Keep business logic in functions rather than mixing every operation into an event handler. Test empty input, invalid input and normal input. Record the purpose of each dependency and the steps needed to run the project. Evaluate your work on correctness, readable code, input handling and your ability to explain the flow without copying the recording. Finish by changing one feature independently and showing the before-and-after behavior.
Topic 04

Data Types and Variables - Notes and Practice

Lesson focus: Data Types and Variables. Trace types, assignments and string operations. Test the difference between numbers and text input. Reproduce the central example in your own practice environment, then change one meaningful input, rule or interface behavior independently. Keep the project or exercise files together with a short explanation of the change and the steps needed to repeat it.
